U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has died, bringing to a close a long and influential career in American public service.

LindellTV broke the news of his passing on social media early Sunday morning, after Graham’s family released that Graham had passed from “a brief and sudden illness.”

For more than two decades, Graham was a familiar and often outspoken voice in the U.S. Senate. He became known as a strong advocate for national defense and American leadership around the world. He also played an important role in the confirmation of conservative federal judges and supported pro-life legislation, Second Amendment rights and Republican efforts to cut taxes and strengthen the economy.

Before serving in the Senate, Graham represented South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives. His public service also extended beyond politics, with decades of service in the U.S. Air Force, Air Force Reserve and South Carolina Air National Guard.

Graham’s career was not without controversy, and his positions sometimes drew criticism from both sides of the political aisle. But through changing administrations and shifting political tides, he remained one of Washington’s most recognizable figures, often siding with President Trump when it mattered most.

President Trump posted on Truth Social: “Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, is dead! He was always working, and was a true American Patriot. Lindsey will be greatly missed!!! DETAILS AND ARRANGEMENTS TO FOLLOW. So sad! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Lindsey Graham was 71 years old.
