Major Florida airport receives a presidential makeover

The prominent South Florida airport known as Palm Beach International Airport has officially undergone a structural transformation. Following a law signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year, the facility officially changed its name to the President Donald J. Trump International Airport.

Crews have been working rapidly to remove the classic Palm Beach International signs. New branding is rolling out across the entryways, terminal interiors, and neighboring roadways. Transitioning a major airport is a massive undertaking, and airport officials have advised travelers that both the classic look and new brand elements will coexist for several weeks.

The International Air Transport Association and major airlines serving the location approved an alteration to the airport’s official three-letter designation. While traveler ticketing will utilize the traditional PBI code for a brief transition window, the official FAA code will permanently switch to DJT on August 18.

The namesake of the facility expressed high praise for the update. In a social media post, President Trump noted his great honor regarding the renaming, calling the location great and predicting that ongoing renovations will make it one of the most spectacular airports in the world.

The name change coincides with a broader, multi-million-dollar modernization effort at the facility. A recent ten million dollar federal grant from the Department of Transportation will fund terminal expansions, including updated restrooms, specialized nursing suites, and a brand-new sensory room designed for neurodivergent travelers. Additionally, an ongoing Concourse B expansion project is adding new passenger loading bridges, advanced energy-efficient electrochromic glass to combat South Florida heat, and expanded dining venues.
