Mamdani and Trump seem to be building quite the relationship

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani returned to the White House today for a second high profile sit down with President Donald Trump, continuing a surprising cross partisan dialogue that has defined the early months of their respective terms.
The meeting, held in the Oval Office, lasted approximately one hour and focused heavily on federal housing investment and urban infrastructure. Despite their stark ideological differences, the two leaders appeared to find common ground through their shared history as New Yorkers and a mutual interest in large scale development projects.
The highlight of the discussion involved a unique piece of political theater. Mamdani presented the President with a framed mock up of a New York Daily News front page featuring the headline Trump to City: Let’s Build. The gesture was a calculated reversal of the famous 1975 headline where President Gerald Ford was said to have instructed the city to drop dead. By framing massive federal housing grants as a way for the President to leave a physical and lasting legacy on his home skyline, it seems that Mamdani successfully piqued the interest of Trump’s real-estate developer side.
