Trump-aligned candidate John Wahl secured the Republican nomination for Alabama lieutenant governor on Tuesday night, earning a clear victory in a highly competitive primary runoff.
As the former chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, Wahl built a platform centered around economic relief and protection of educational freedom for parents. His campaign generated significant grassroots energy by focusing on affordability for working families and positioning him as an outsider ready to bring a fresh approach to state government.
A key moment in the race arrived when Wahl secured an endorsement from President Trump. Wahl embraced this partnership fully, connecting his vision for the state directly with the national America First movement. Wes Allen targeted Wahl with an unconventional broadside when he targeted Wahl’s residency status, a move that cost Allen’s campaign $20,000. Despite the heavy spending and the unusual nature of those late-stage offensive efforts, the strategy failed to turn up any results or sway the electorate.
