Iran violated ceasefire, says President Trump
Amid tenuous negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Trump said on Friday that the regime had violated the standing ceasefire agreement.

President Donald Trump said on Friday that Iran had attacked ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, constituting a violation of the ceasefire agreement with the United States.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships transversing the Strait of Hormuz,” the president said in a statement posted to Truth Social.
He added, “One of the Drones solidly hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Carrying Ship. Damage was done, but the Ship was able to proceed on its way. We knocked down three other Drones. Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement.”
According to Seatrade Maritime News, a Singapore-flagged ship was attacked on Thursday in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first vessel to be hit since the 60-day ceasefire and preliminary agreement with Iran had carefully reopened the shipping corridor.
This difficult development comes just days after Vice President J.D. Vance and the U.S. negotiating team returned from Switzerland, where the United States and Iran engaged in peace talks.
As reported by LindellTV, the vice president on Monday presented a fairly rosy picture of progress in the discussions but highlighted the conflict between Israel and Lebanon as a point of contention.
“I would describe it as very good progress,” the vice president noted on Monday, regarding Lebanon-Israel’s fight. “…We want a regional ceasefire, right? We want Hezbollah to stop firing at our friends in Israel; we want Israelis to be able to live in peace. We also want to make sure that when things happen, they don’t spiral into broader escalation.”
The Strait of Hormuz had recently been reopened for shipping following President Trump’s order to pull back the U.S. Navy’s blockade in the channel. Earlier this week, he had said that it was “highly unlikely” that the blockade would need to be reinstated.
