Former Prince Andrew arrested, but when will our Federal agencies do something?

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of King Charles III, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest, which took place on his 66th birthday, marks a historic shift in the legal scrutiny surrounding the former prince and his past association with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that the investigation focuses on allegations that Andrew shared confidential government trade information with Epstein during his tenure as a special representative for international trade. This development follows the release of a massive trove of documents by the United States Department of Justice earlier this year. These files reportedly contain emails and trade reports sent from the then-Duke of York to Epstein, some of which were allegedly marked as confidential.

Officers detained the former prince at his current residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. After approximately 11 hours of questioning at a local police station, he was released under investigation. This status indicates that while he has not been formally charged, the police inquiry remains active and ongoing.

Buckingham Palace has remained largely silent, though King Charles III issued a brief statement through a spokesperson. The King noted that the law must take its course and signaled a continued effort to distance the monarchy from his brother’s legal troubles. Andrew was stripped of his royal titles in late 2025 and was recently required to vacate his long-time home at Royal Lodge.

With Andrew being the first arrest after the release of the Epstein files, many are wondering, who is next? The Department of Justice has yet to arrest anyone in connection with Epstein, and Americans are growing tired of the “all talk and no action” from our federal agencies. It is great that at least someone is facing justice for their role with Epstein, but it would be nice to see the many Americans who had a part in this brought to justice.
