“Deporting Fraudsters Act” vote reveals where House Dems really stand

By Easton Martin | April 2, 2026

The House of Representatives finally took a stand for the American taxpayer. Legislators passed the Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026 to close a glaring loophole in our immigration system. This bill targets illegal immigrants who engage in welfare fraud or steal benefits. It makes these crimes a clear reason for deportation, as they should be.

The legislation certainly seems to be a victory for common sense. For too long, the law failed to explicitly list fraud against the government as a deportable offense. This meant that individuals who broke into the country could then steal from programs like SNAP or Medicaid without facing removal. The new bill ensures that anyone who exploits our resources loses their right to stay here (a right they really didn’t have in the first place).

The vote count, however, reveals a disturbing divide in Washington. Every Republican supported the measure, but 186 Democrats voted against it. This opposition is difficult to justify to the average citizen. Why on earth would we keep people in our country who are not only already here illegally, but are now committing fraud?

American workers fund these safety nets with their hard-earned paychecks. These programs exist to help the most vulnerable members of our own society. Protecting these funds should be a priority for every elected official.
