Texas State Representative Gene Wu found himself at the center of a heated political controversy following the circulation of comments regarding the mobilization of minority communities.

During an address to a coalition of Latino, African American, and Asian American voters, Wu emphasized that these groups now represent the majority of the American population. He urged these communities to recognize their collective influence and unite against what he described as a common enemy or common oppressor in an effort to take over the United States.

Wu’s choice of words ignited immediate backlash across the political spectrum.

The reaction from Texas leadership was swift and severe. High ranking Republican officials, including Senator Ted Cruz and Attorney General Ken Paxton, condemned the remarks as divisive and racially charged. The situation escalated on Monday when Republican candidate Aaron Reitz publicly suggested that Wu’s citizenship should be scrutinized, stating that the representative’s rhetoric reflected sentiments that contradicted his naturalization oath.

These developments have further strained an already polarized environment in the Texas legislature, where Governor Greg Abbott has continued legal efforts to challenge Wu’s standing following previous legislative disputes.
