LindellTV Presses Treasury on Digital Currency & Government Tracking
LindellTV’s @CaraCastronuova asked Treasury @SecScottBessent about growing concerns that digital currency could one day be used to track Americans’ spending habits or limit personal freedom. Bessent responded with a clear promise from the Trump administration: “There will be no central bank digital currency,” warning that a CBDC “would be the first step toward tracking.” Bessent said the administration has taken a government-controlled digital dollar “off the table” while instead supporting bipartisan stablecoin legislation and the Clarity Act to bring digital assets under U.S. oversight. “When you look at digital assets, all the nonsense that happens… that’s because it’s the wild, wild west offshore. So we’ve got to bring it onshore,” Bessent explained. The administration says the goal is to protect Americans’ privacy and freedoms while making the U.S. the global leader in digital asset regulation and innovation.
