Speaking with LindellTV’s @CaraCastronuova at the America’s Future 250 event, No Trafficking Zone CEO Jacqueline Aluotto sounded the alarm on the scale of human trafficking and the risks surrounding major international sporting events. Aluotto, who recently briefed the White House FIFA Task Force, said human trafficking is a year-round crisis. “Human trafficking happens in America 365 days a year.” She estimated the global industry generates $526 billion annually, making it one of the most profitable criminal enterprises in the world. According to Aluotto, major sporting events can create increased demand for commercial sex, which traffickers exploit. “As the demand rises, the supply has to rise and the supply is children.” She said law enforcement agencies and anti-trafficking organizations are working together in World Cup host cities to identify trafficking networks, rescue victims, and prosecute traffickers and buyers. “People are selling children… during games.” Her message was clear: human trafficking isn’t happening somewhere else – it’s happening here, every day, and Americans need to be aware.
