Privacy Policy
How LTV collects, uses and protects information when you browse the site.
LTV is a news discovery service. We aggregate headlines, summaries and media from publishers around the web so you can find the stories that matter to you. We built the site to work without asking who you are: you can read everything LTV publishes without creating an account or telling us anything about yourself.
Information we collect
We do not require registration and we do not collect names, email addresses or other personal profiles from readers. Like most websites, our servers automatically record basic technical information about each request — such as IP address, browser type and the pages viewed — in standard server logs. We use this information in aggregate to keep the site fast, secure and reliable, and we retain it only as long as needed for those purposes.
Approximate location and local news
To show you content that is relevant to where you are — such as local news, weather and sports scores — we may estimate your approximate location from your IP address. This estimate is coarse (typically a metro area or state), is used only to select content, and is never precise geolocation: we do not access GPS or device location, and we do not keep a history of your locations. To make this estimate we may use reputable third-party geolocation services or databases (such as MaxMind) acting as service providers; only your IP address is used for the lookup, and the result is cached briefly for performance. You can change the location we detected, or switch to national-only coverage, at any time using the location selector on the site; your choice is remembered in a preference cookie and always overrides the estimate.
Automated content classification
LTV uses automated systems, which may include artificial-intelligence models, to help organize the stories we aggregate — for example, detecting which city or state an article is about so it can appear in the right local section. This processing applies to the content we publish, not to information about you, and our editors can review and correct it. We do not use automated systems to build profiles of individual readers.
Anonymous usage
Any usage statistics we analyze (for example, which sections are most read) are aggregated and anonymous. We do not build individual reading profiles, and we do not sell or rent reader information to anyone.
Cookies
LTV sets cookies only to maintain your browsing session and remember basic preferences — for example, your display theme or the location you have chosen for local news. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work, though some conveniences may be lost.
Third-party advertising
LTV may display advertising provided by third-party ad networks. These providers may use their own cookies or similar technologies, subject to their own privacy policies, to measure ad performance or limit how often you see an ad. We do not share server logs or session data with advertisers. Where required, we will present you with choices about personalized advertising.
External links and sources
Stories on LTV frequently link to the original publisher’s website. Once you leave LTV, the privacy practices of that publisher apply. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
